Remember This One Thing

rememberpageDid you ever see the movie “City Slickers?” Or maybe it was the second one…? Anyway the old dude told the younger guys to remember “this one thing” and then he held up one finger. But he never did tell them what that one thing was, he left them to figure it out. Well I am here to tell you the one thing to remember.

When my marriage fell apart, obviously I was miserable and in a very dark place. I felt like God didn’t love me anymore, that he had abandoned me. But the logical side of my brain kept telling me that wasn’t true. God keeps his promises…unlike some people.
So I am telling you the one thing to remember, no matter how bad you feel, or how bad your life has gotten God loves you with an everlasting love! Such a beautify phrase: everlasting love! Just think about that…everlasting love. Let it fill your heart with peace. The word “lovingkindness” is so full of meaning. God shows us His lovingkindness is forever:

Psalm 103:17 English Standard Version (ESV)
But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,

Psalm 103:15-18New American Standard Bible (NASB)
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 When the wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its place acknowledges it no longer.
17 But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children’s children,
18 To those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts to do them.

Romans 8:38-39New American Standard Bible (NASB)
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 100:5New American Standard Bible (NASB)
5 For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 23:6New American Standard Bible (NASB)
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
John 10:27-29New American Standard Bible (NASB)
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
Psalm 36:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
5 Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Ephesians 2:4-7 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
