Someone once asked me how she was supposed to trust God when she blamed Him for the bad things that happened in her life.
We know that God created the world in 7 days, therefore He has the power to prevent heartbreak, betrayal and disappointment. So why didn’t He?
The thing is, God gave us the ability to choose how we act. Someone chose actions that are contrary to God’s word which betrayed you, broke your heart, and ruined your whole life. God should have stopped that and protected you, right?!
However, we do not know everything that goes on in someone else’s life, even someone as close as a spouse. We do not know what God did do to try to influence and convict them to change their behavior.
It is like when I was a kid my parents did everything they could (within the bounds of reason) to keep me and my sisters from hurting each other, but we did anyway. I can’t blame my parents because my sister smashed my nose! And we can’t blame God when some sinful, self-serving, so-and-so smashes our hearts, into billions of pieces.
God doesn’t want to see us suffer but when we do He wants us to come to Him for comfort. Just like a good dad takes his crying child in his arms, holds him close and dries his eyes.
